Getting The Most Out of Our Church Website

I love our church website! Did you know that next to “word of mouth,” based on the feedback of our Connection Cards, that the church website is one of the most frequented ways guests have discovered our church? That fact in itself reminds us of the importance of having a first-class website, for many will make their assessments of our church based upon what they view online before they ever attend in person. Yes, first impressions are occurring often before we ever meet them.

The church website, however, is not just an informational tool for those searching for a church home. It’s also a convenient way for members of our church to interact with our ministry. Let me share several ways that you as a member of Laurel Baptist Church can get the most out of our church website.

WATCH THE WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO

As soon as you log on to the website you can choose to watch the weekly announcement video that is played at the end of each Sunday service. So, just in case you left your bulletin behind go online and stay up-to-date with the weekly announcement video.

WATCH OR LISTEN TO THE SERVICES (ALSO AVAILABLE IN APPS)

Nothing should ever replace attending a church service. Nothing! Even on vacation, our family will find a like-minded, Baptist church in which we can worship on Sunday mornings. But I am thankful that in cases where members are sick, shut-in, or providentially hindered they can go online and watch the services live. All sermons are also recorded where you can listen to them at your convenience.

And for you smartphone users, we have free apps that you can download and have quick and easy access to watching or listening to the services. For listening to recorded sermons, use the app Sermon Audio (click here for more info) and for watching live or archived services use the app Sunday Streams (click here for more info). Once you download the apps you will be prompted for your church ID. The ID for both mobile and tablet applications is: LaurelBaptist.

REGISTER FOR EVENTS

We’ve made it quick and easy for you to sign up for church events. Just click Event Registration and you’ll find a list of upcoming events and activities for which you can register. To register for teen activities use the tab Revive Student Ministry.

EXCLUSIVE MEMBERSHIP ACCESS

Members of Laurel Baptist have exclusive access to church directories, ministry forms, music rehearsal information, and much more by registering a username and password with the church website. It’s easy to do and only members of LBC can access this information.

DOWNLOAD THE WEEKLY GROWTH GROUP ASSIGNMENT

During the year when Growth Groups are sermon-oriented the weekly assignments are placed in the church bulletin, but no worries if you misplaced yours. You can go right to the website and download the weekly assignment.

GIVE ONLINE

Online giving is just another way to conveniently follow the Lord in your giving. With the online giving portal you can give tithes, special offerings, missions, and even pay for events. Debit cards and Credit cards can be used; however, we strongly recommend that when using the online giving portal that you do so through the funds transfer option with your checking or savings account to bypass any processing fees the church would incur. The nice thing about our online giving option is that you can make a one-time gift or you can set up a re-occuring gift.

SIGN UP FOR E-NEWS

E-news is one of the best ways to stay up-to-date with events, information, and needs of prayer in our church family. Just simply click on the tab Sign Up For E-News, enter your information, and start receiving the weekly updates right to your inbox.

STAY INFORMED WITH MISSIONARY UPDATES

The Our Missionaries tab is a list of nearly all the missionaries are church supports on a monthly basis. If you click on a family’s name you can access their blog or website. In most cases, you can read prayer letters on their site and stay up to date with what our missionaries are doing. It’s a great way to know how to pray for them during the week.

INTERACT WITH THE CHURCH-WIDE CALENDAR

The church-wide calendar has everything you need to know about what’s happening and when. With the exception of growth group activities, we put everything on the church calendar. One of the nice things about this one is that you can import the church calendar  into your own Google calendar, allowing you to have access to it on your tablet or mobile device. In most cases, the church calendar stays up-to-date twelve months in advance.

INVITE OTHERS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA

We live in a social media world. In fact, most of you clicked on the link to this blog post by way of a social media post. Why not occasionally share the church website on your twitter or Facebook account? What a great tool for outreach and inviting your friends and followers! Maybe a tweet or status like this: “I love my church and want to invite you to visit us any Sunday in #Charlotte. laborerstogether.com.”

Make sure you’re getting the most out of our church website!
